Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially reached a divorce settlement, as confirmed by court documents obtained by Fox News Digital. The couple signed the uncontested divorce papers on Monday at a Los Angeles court, signaling the end of their brief marriage.
The divorce agreement includes the waiver of spousal support and any further investigative proceedings. After the judge signs the divorce decree next month, Lopez intends to legally drop “Affleck” from her surname.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck had been married for two years before Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, 2014, at the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Her filing for dissolution of marriage came on the couple’s second wedding anniversary in Georgia. Despite their initial separation, the pair rekindled their romance in 2021, eventually tying the knot in a surprise Vegas wedding in 2022.
Court documents show that Lopez, listed as “Party 2” in the filings, requested a “new name” to be recorded in their marriage registration, which was first filed on July 16 and submitted to the Clark County Clerk’s Office the following day. Affleck, 52, is named as “Party 1” in the legal papers, with his full name recorded as “Benjamin Geza Affleck.” Lopez had legally adopted her husband’s surname, becoming “Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”
A month after their Las Vegas wedding, the couple celebrated with a private backyard ceremony for friends and family at an $8 million estate in Georgia, a property Affleck purchased two decades ago when they first started dating.
Affleck and Lopez originally met while filming Gigli and became engaged in 2002, with plans to marry in September 2003. However, they postponed their wedding and ultimately called off their engagement in early 2004. The pair famously reunited in the summer of 2021, with Affleck proposing to Lopez in April while she was taking a bath.
The divorce marks the end of a tumultuous chapter for the couple, but their rekindled romance and eventual marriage remain a significant part of their shared history.
